307 Days and Counting…
On November 4, 2008, when 67+ million extremely nearsighted (if not altogether blind) lemmings - all chanting in unison: “change… change… change…” - went to the polls and voted to install BH Obama as its next leader, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed on the New York Stock Exchange at 9,319.
At the time of the election, we were promised that The Guy from Chicago would lead us into a new epoch of change and prosperity, that the skies would clear and the waters would part and that if they did not, he would just walk on the water. Oh, and heal the stock market with just the thought of his inauguration. The Obama Era was upon us! Hallelujah!!
Today, 118 days later, we find ourselves in a nation where (a) Obama concocts a budget plan proposing expenditures of $3.55 trillion (that’s $3,550,000,000,000.00), including $1 trillion (that’s $1,000,000,000,000.00) in higher taxes, but only on the “rich”; (b) Obama makes clear his intent to convert the nation into a land where, to quote Karl Marx, “all shall suffer equally until none shall suffer at all”; and (c) the DJIA closed at 6763, down 27½ % and 2556 points from election day.
Stated otherwise, in the 118 days since The Chosen One was elected, the stock market has plummeted nearly 2560 points, or an average of almost 22 points per day, including non-trading days and weekends. If the drop continues at this rate (that couldn’t happen….. could it…?), the market will zero out in 307 more days, on or about January 4, 2010.
Interesting: in less than one year - less time than his first full year in office - one Chicago machine politician, propelled into the highest office of this land by a sycophantic mainstream media and perhaps the most disingenuous and deceitful (not to mention expensive) political campaign in the nation’s history, will have completely destroyed the stock market.
Yikes, even Osama bin Laden and Mohammed Atta couldn’t have done that. The lines of unemployed outside Depression Era soup kitchens will seem, on reflection and comparison, like the lines of giggling children snaking around The Matterhorn at Disneyland.
Is this the “change” we were promised? All you Democrats out there happy now? Huh? Still proudly displaying your “Obama-Biden” and “1/20/09 End of an Error” bumper stickers?
